Job Description:
Interstate Waste Services, a leader in non-hazardous waste
management in the U.S. Northeast, seeks a dedicated Landfill
Engineer to join our innovative engineering team. In this role, you
will be responsible for designing, planning, and overseeing the
operation and post-closure care of our landfills to ensure
compliance with environmental laws and regulations, while
optimizing waste disposal and recycling processes. This position
requires a blend of fieldwork, data analysis, and collaborative
project management to enhance landfill operations and
sustainability initiatives. Design and develop landfill projects
including new site development, expansions, and closure plans
Conduct site investigations and environmental monitoring, analyzing
data to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements Prepare and
review technical reports, drawings, and specifications for landfill
operations Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement
waste management and recycling solutions Oversee the installation
of landfill liners, leachate collection systems, and gas extraction
systems Monitor and adjust operational practices to maximize
landfill lifespan and environmental safety Manage relationships
with regulatory agencies and ensure all environmental permits and
documents are maintained Develop and conduct training programs for
site personnel on environmental compliance and safety standards
Proficiency in CAD software and GIS tools Strong understanding of
geotechnical principles and environmental engineering Ability to
analyze and interpret data collected from the field Excellent
project management and supervisory skills Knowledge of
environmental regulations and compliance requirements related to
waste management Effective communication and collaboration skills

401k Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred Certification in
Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) is a
plus
