CARDIOTHORACIC ANESTHESIOLOGIST

University of Pittsburgh Physicians seeks a Cardiothoracic Anesthesiologist to work in Altoona, PA (Blair County). Perform preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative care of patients who undergo heart and chest surgery and other related procedures; administer anesthetic or sedation during surgical cases involving the heart, lungs, and other operations of the human chest, including coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery and other procedures ranging from minimally invasive surgery, robotic surgery, and complex multi-stage aortic surgery; monitor patients' physical condition and bodily reactions to anesthesia during surgical procedures; document all aspects of care directly administered, perform consultations, and communicate with surgeons, patients, family members, and other anesthesia staff; examine patients' medical history and use diagnostic tests to determine and counteract potential risks or adverse reactions that may occur during surgical procedures; coordinate care and multi-modal pain management plans for patients recovering from surgery and establish preventative health practices. Must have a Medical degree or equivalent; must have completed a residency in Anesthesiology; must have completed an ACGME fellowship in Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology; must be Board certified or eligible for certification in Anesthesiology; must have a valid PA medical license.
