Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: OR - Operating Room - Discipline: RN - Start Date: 11/17/2025 - Duration: 13 weeks - 36 hours per week - Shift: 8 hours, days, evenings - Employment Type: Travel Schedule: 8-hour shifts, Monday–Friday (6:30 AM–3:00 PM or 9:00 AM–5:30 PM) Location: State College, PA Experience Level: 2 Years Operating Room Experience Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) to join a dynamic surgical team. The nurse will be responsible for providing safe, effective, and compassionate perioperative care in accordance with AORN standards and evidence-based practice. The role involves collaborating with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and surgical technologists to ensure optimal patient outcomes in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities Deliver professional nursing care throughout the perioperative process, including preoperative assessment, intraoperative care, and postoperative evaluation. Maintain a sterile environment and uphold aseptic techniques in accordance with operating room policies and AORN guidelines. Monitor patient responses and implement appropriate interventions during surgical procedures. Ensure all necessary supplies, instruments, and equipment are available and functioning before each case. Accurately document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes in the EMR system. Support patient and family education regarding surgical procedures and postoperative care. Demonstrate strong teamwork and communication with the surgical and anesthesia teams. Required Qualifications Graduate of an accredited Registered Nursing program (BSN preferred). Active Pennsylvania RN License (in good standing). Minimum 2 years of recent Operating Room experience. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications (AHA standards). Preferred Qualifications Familiarity with perioperative nursing practices and AORN standards. Strong ability to remain calm and professional under pressure. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Prior experience circulating and scrubbing in a variety of surgical specialties.
