General Job Responsibilities: Diagnose and treat a wide range of digestive system disorders in adults and potentially children (depending on the position). Minimum Education Requirements: Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school. Residency training program in internal medicine accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or American Osteopathic Association (AOA). Fellowship training in gastroenterology (may be preferred depending on the position). License & Certifications: Board certification in gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) or the AOA. Active and unrestricted medical license in Pennsylvania. Experience: While specific requirements may vary, most locum gastroenterologist positions prefer candidates with at least one year of experience providing gastroenterology care in a clinical or hospital setting.
