Registered Nurse (RN) | Progressive Care Unit Location: Uniontown, PA Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $2,254 per week Shift Information: Days - 3 days x 12 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: ASAP About the Position Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Stepdown Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Days Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS Certification, NIHSS Must-Have: Ability to read and interpret monitor strips and titrate drips Description: Unit consists of 28 private beds. Ratios are 1:4-5, with a maximum of 1:6 during MedSurg acuity. Electronic Medical Records currently in use are Cerner and EPIC. Day shift charge nurses have no assignments, while night charge nurses may have an assignment. There are 2 nurse aides per shift during the day and mid-shift. No CNA is available at night after 11 PM. Weekend requirements include working every other weekend and every other holiday as part of the permanent staff rotation. Scrub color is navy blue, and jackets must also be navy blue if worn. Telemonitoring is available, with a monitor tech present. Registered nurses must be able to read and interpret strips. Registered nurses are also the central monitor station for the facility. Registered nurses must be able to titrate drips, including Cardizem, Nitro, Dopamine, Dobutamine, and Heparin. Insulin is set at a fixed rate, with no sedation drips. Bipap, Cpap, and High Flow ventilation are in use. Hospitalists are in-house 24/7, with an intensivist available in the ICU seven days a week from 7 AM to 7 PM and on-call after hours. An IV team is not available, but charge nurses or the ICU Director can be contacted for difficult IV insertions. Respiratory therapy is in-house 24/7. Pharmacy services are available 24/7 on-site. Shifts for registered nurses are 12 hours, from 7 AM to 7:30 PM, and 7 PM to 7:30 AM. CNA shifts are 8 hours, from 6:30 AM to 3 PM, and 2:30 PM to 11 PM. The Director provides excellent communication with staff and travelers regarding scheduling and allows block scheduling. Registered nurses may float to other areas as help. Orientation consists of two shifts with a preceptor. Common diagnoses and types of patients include heavy cardiac cases, dysrhythmias, and strokes, along with a mix of other conditions downgraded from the ICU. Cancellation policy allows for two cancellations per 13-week assignment and one cancellation for assignments shorter than 13 weeks. Charting system in use is EPIC. BSN is not required for this position. Willing to wait for licensure approval. The care setting is acute. This position is within the nursing division. Shift notes indicate 12-hour days with weekends as scheduled. Required certifications include ACLS, BLS Certification, and NIHSS.
