Registered Nurse (RN) | Operating Room Location: State College, PA Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $2,266 per week Shift Information: Days - 5 days x 8 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: 3/30/2026 About the Position Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Perioperative, Operating Room / Circulation & Scrub Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 8-hour shifts; 0615-1445 Mon-Fri Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Current RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: Experience in operating room settings Description: Assesses and responds to the individual physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs of the patient through personal observation and interaction. Acts as a patient advocate. Sets up operating room with appropriate sterile supplies and equipment according to assignments and schedule. Works as a team with the scrub nurse/technician, anesthesia personnel, and surgeon to provide an organized, safe, and efficient environment of care. Identifies patient and operative site per policy. Transports patients safely. Communicates information accurately to the surgical team and charts it in a timely and accurate manner. Constantly observes the sterile field throughout the surgical procedure. Charts the required information on the patient record, checks the consent and history & physical for each surgical procedure, and performs the time-out properly. Oversees sponge, needle, and instrument counts before surgery and reports the results to the surgeon after completion intra-operatively. Ensures that appropriate medications are available for each case and labeled properly on the sterile field. Handles specimens correctly and safely. Labels, records, and places specimens in proper containers, and records the information accurately. Uses safety goggles and gloves when needed to handle waste and soiled items. Ensures that the team is wearing protective gear. When functioning as a float nurse/resource, maintains communication among all areas. Relieves personnel for breaks and lunches in a timely manner. Assists with checking case carts and maintains the flow of patients according to the operating room schedule. Utilizes staff in a cost-effective manner. Reviews preference cards periodically to ensure that specific supplies and equipment are available for procedures. Independently seeks knowledge and familiarizes self with all equipment, procedures, supplies, and drugs. Familiar with emergency supplies and equipment locations. Utilizes supplies, equipment, and resources to contain costs without compromising patient care. Participates in annual inventory counts and ensures accurate decrement of supplies. Assists with housekeeping duties as necessary, making beds, mopping floors between cases, and disposing of trash. When required to perform other duties, does so in accordance with policies.
