Roles & Responsibilities Triage every patient entering the emergency care system and prioritize care based on physical and psychosocial needs Perform thorough patient assessments and document an in-depth nursing history including chief complaint and health status Develop and implement individualized plans of care, update them continuously, and evaluate patient outcomes Manage emergencies and complications following Mount Nittany Medical Center policies and ENA standards Ensure supplies and equipment are ready and functioning for optimal patient care Provide clear, compassionate education to patients and families about treatment and discharge plans Conduct hourly rounding in the department and half-hour rounding in the waiting room when patients are waiting Communicate effectively with the care team, physicians, and families to coordinate safe, efficient care Qualifications Current Pennsylvania RN licensure required BLS (Healthcare Provider) current and renewed every two years ACLS (Healthcare Provider) current and renewed every two years PALS (Healthcare Provider) current and renewed every two years Valid NIHSS certification Experience in emergency nursing and triage; EPIC Computer Charting experience preferred Strong verbal, non-verbal, and written communication skills and ability to work as part of a team Knowledge & Skills Triage and emergency nursing best practices Patient assessment across the lifespan from neonate to geriatric Nursing process: assessment, plan, implement, evaluate Thorough nursing documentation and charting (EPIC preferred) Hourly rounding practices and waiting room management Discharge planning and patient education Team communication and ability to act as liaison between patients and staff Benefits Generous housing stipend to help you settle in quickly Comprehensive medical, dental & vision coverage 401K retirement savings plan to help you plan ahead Life insurance for peace of mind Paid time off to recharge and avoid burnout Travel reimbursement and support for contract nurses Licensure assistance & reimbursement to keep your credentials current Referral bonus program and a supportive team that values YOU Travel Perks: Explore State College, PA Explore State College and the Penn State area during your contract.
