Description: This position is for a Registered Nurse in the
Emergency Room. The role involves working 12-hour night shifts from
1845 to 0715. Employees will work three shifts weekly. Block
schedules and self-scheduling are allowed. The unit has 12 beds,
two of which can be converted to trauma bays. There is no
fast-track system; patients will be triaged in their rooms. One
room is designated for psych/seclusion, but all rooms can be used
for this purpose. There is no onsite security; staff will call 911
if needed. The average number of patients per day is 20.
Nurse-patient ratios are typically 1 to 6, depending on staffing
and acuity. Teamwork is an essential aspect of the work
environment. Each shift has two Registered Nurses. The unit
requires a range of certifications including BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC,
and NRP. The team handles cases such as geriatric patients,
pediatrics, pneumonia, CHF, and COPD. Emergency Department
Physicians are available for consultation. No charge nurses are
present, but a nurse aide/paramedic is available during specific
hours. Registered Nurses perform phlebotomy and draw their own
labs. The department does not currently employ monitor technicians;
RNs read strips. Behavioral patients may be monitored with
equipment as needed. Experience with various medical equipment is
important. Shifts are scheduled as needed to meet the unit's
requirements. Weekend and holiday work is required. There is no
call or standby requirement for this position. Floating to other
departments is not required. Staff dress code is flexible. Training
includes a one-day orientation with a preceptor. The department has
portable chest radiology services available. Confidence and strong
