Altoona is seeking a Registered Nurse to join our team and support
our Observation Unit for D/N rotation (7a-7p/7p-7a) including
rotating weekends and holidays. 6F is a fast paced, high turnover
medical/surgical/telemetry unit that specializes in expediting
testing for adult observation patients. Most patients spend
24-48 hours on our unit. Nurses will build their knowledge
base by caring for a wide range of patients.
Common diagnosis include chest pain, syncope,
asthma exacerbation, COPD, CHF, TIA, and abdominal pain.
Staff working on 6F develop excellent prioritizing,
assessment, and time management skills. We have an

physicians that collaborate to provide excellent care to our

- Utilizes Bed Management System,
Alpha, CPOE, and all other computer systems
- Assessment: a. Assesses patient
and family needs and documents this information appropriately in
the computer or on appropriate form. b. Reassesses patient every
eight hours, and, as necessary.
- Planning: a. Includes the patient
and family/significant other in the formulation of the plan of
care. b. Prioritizes patient's needs appropriately. c. Plans,
conducts, and documents patient care conferences. d. Maintains a
current plan of care for each assigned patient. e. Utilizes
appropriate community agencies and other health care professionals
in planning care.
- Evaluation: a. Revises plan of
care, as necessary based on daily evaluation of patient. b.
Evaluates patient's outcome based on previously defined goals. c.
Evaluates and documents the patient's response to care, teaching,
