JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The Pennsylvania State University Libraries Research Informatics
and Publishing Department seeks collaborative, inquisitive and
diligent applicants for the position of Data Curation Assistant.
The successful candidate will have a strong work ethic, attention
to detail, interest in data curation, and a desire to learn and
explore new technologies. The Data Curation Assistant will support
Data Learning Center efforts related to data curation for a Penn
State institutional repository, ScholarSphere.
More specifically, the Data Curation Assistant will be responsible
for:
(1) Working both independently and collaboratively within a team to
provide data curation support such as:
(2) Documenting curatorial actions within our data curation
workflow.
(3) Responding to inquiries regarding the use of ScholarSphere.
This position will not exceed 20 hours per work week. Remote work
is possible. This position is open to students or others at Penn
State Campuses and to external applicants.
Required Qualifications: Ability to share knowledge with others
through sufficient oral and written communication skills;
Interpersonal skills that will enable successful collaborations;
Positive attitude and the ability to work well with a team;
Aptitude to learn new skills independently as well as through
instruction.
Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with research data, data
management, or curation. Familiarity with the following file types
is a plus: docx, pdf, xlsx. Experience with sensitive data and/or
file extensions associated with Python, R, Matlab, and Stata
applications or the interest in learning about them is a plus.

and Campus Crime Statistics Act and the Pennsylvania Act of 1988,
